BRANFORD LOCK WORKS EASTLAKE #3842 ENTRY MORTISE LOCK - WITH BOTH KEYS! - 1897 FULLY RESTORED (12995-3)
Vintage, B.L.W. #3842 Eastlake Entry Lock, shown in the 1897 catalog after their merger with Yale & Towne (see image).
Doubled keyed mortise lock with both keys! Finish has been lightly cleaned, original with intricate Eastlake design in the heavy casting on face plate.
Requires a standard size 5/16" split pivot knob post shaft.
Mortise lock has a front plate length of 6 3/4" and a width of 1" and thickness of 1/8".
Backset (the distance from the front edge of the face plate to the center of the knob post hole) is 2 3/4".
The drop from the center of the knob post hole to the center of the top of the key slot is 1 3/4". The drop to the bottom key hole is 3 1/8".
Doubled keyed entry locks are designed so that the bottom key works from both sides of the door and throw the deadbolt. The smaller key that utilizes the top key slot works from the inside and pulls back the plunger. By leaving the top key in the door, the larger key is rendered inactive from the outside.
Would give a nice Eastlake look to any door!
Let us know if you need a split post knob shaft or knobs before ending he auction and we can adjust the price accordingly.
